English India Pale Ale beers were developed in England during the 18th century. Inspired by historical English IPAs, American craft beer brewers of the 1990s created a new, unique American IPA style showcasing high bitterness levels and expressive American hops. Overtime, American IPA beers exploded in popularity and gave rise to many new IPA styles including Double IPA, Hazy IPA and numerous Specialty IPAs.
